About Me

Welcome to my corner of the internet! I'm Michael King, a passionate educator and productivity enthusiast with the better part of a decade of experience in teaching and leadership. Over the years, I've not only refined my approach to English and Humanities, but have also developed a deep expertise in the science of productivity and personal development. I’ve spent countless hours reading and applying insights from dozens of productivity books and strategies to streamline my own work and help others achieve more with less.

My journey in education started in the early 2010s, driven by a love for learning and a commitment to making a meaningful impact on students and colleagues alike. Throughout my career, I’ve combined evidence-based teaching methods, such as active recall and spaced repetition (inspired by experts like Marzano and Jared Cooney Horvath), with practical productivity techniques that ensure both students and professionals can thrive without burnout.

Leadership and Training

Beyond the classroom, I’ve led curriculum teams and spearheaded initiatives to implement Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, providing me with invaluable experience in managing complex educational environments. I understand the challenges of balancing day-to-day tasks with long-term goals, especially for early career teachers, which is why I’m passionate about upskilling and supporting the next generation of educators.

My workshops focus on transforming productivity and supporting early career professionals—areas where I’ve seen tremendous growth in myself and others. Whether it’s mastering goal setting, automation, delegation, or burnout prevention, I’ve helped educators and leaders alike reclaim their time and focus on what truly matters.

Philosophy and Values

My professional philosophy is grounded in the belief that strong relationships, coupled with evidence-based strategies, are the foundation for success. I’m driven by a desire to help others unlock their potential, whether through innovative teaching methods or through personal and professional productivity training. I’m all about practical solutions that can be immediately applied to make a tangible difference.

As a father of two and the guardian of my sister-in-law, I know firsthand the importance of maintaining balance and resilience. Teaching at a low SES school has further fueled my commitment to creating environments where growth is nurtured and challenges are met with practical, proven solutions. Whether in education or leadership, I believe that growth doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from doing better.
